Creating art isn’t always easy, and it’s a challenge to get motivated sometimes. One of the things I recommend in my How to Get Motivated to Draw article is to look at the artwork of other artists, but afterward, I realized that I could have recommended WAY more than I did. So, here are some great visual artists to follow on Instagram who might help give you inspiration to create more!
1. Banksy (@banksy)
Banksy is a world-renowned street artist with a significant influence in the art world. He’s known best for his politically charged and thought-provoking murals. Banksy’s Instagram account is definitely a great follow if you’re looking for unique inspiration and new ways to create art.
2. KAWS (@kaws)
KAWS is an artist and designer who has gathered worldwide recognition for his easily recognizable characters and sculptures. His Instagram feed is largely dominated by his characters, though, so if that’s not your thing, then there are 7 other options on this list! haha.
3. JR (@jr)
JR is a France-based artist known for his large art installations on public display, as well as photography projects that address social and political issues. In the example below, he even uses people standing around as the “hair” to one of his installations. Definitely a unique take on how to create art in new ways
4. Samuel Ingram (@sam_ryan_studio)
Samuel Ingram is a traditional artist who primarily paints portraits and still-life images in his unique, colorful style. His portraits typically consist of well-known figures in history, sports, or pop culture.
5. Andrew Scott (@andrewscott_art)
Andrew Scott is known for his incredibly creative pieces that blur the lines between where art begins and ends. Many pieces involve altering the frame itself to create a 4th-wall-breaking effect, as seen in the example below. These are part of his “Breakthrough Collection,” which you can view on his website. He’s honestly one of my favorites, but I already added the top 4 and I’m too lazy to switch the rankings right now… Maybe someday, haha.
6. Artoholic (@artoholic.in)
Feeling limited by pen and paper? Artholic will show you there’s much more to art than just traditional drawing, painting, or sculpting. This influencer creates their art from the paper itself by rolling it, bending it, and gluing it into place until it forms into a beautiful masterpiece. This form of art is known as “quilling” and can achieve remarkable results.
7. Pejac (@pejac_art)
Pejac’s portfolio includes a large array of art, from drawings and paintings to sculptures. But they all share his creative and stunning touch and ability to keep you wondering what his next piece will be. Rules to creating art? What rules?
8. Dezigning Art (@dezigningart)
What’s so special about this channel? Seems kind of amateur. Do you even know this guy?
Yeah, this is a shameless self-plug. I don’t post as much as I would like to, but what’s it going to hurt to follow me for the times I do? 😉 I love art, and I’d like to create more of it. So, stay tuned.
That’s it. That’s my list of artists to follow on Instagram and all I’ve got for now.
As with all my posts, I plan to update this as I find more artists I’d like to add to it. I’ve never been great with goodbye’s, so… until next time?
