Simptap acrylic marker sets compared

I’ve had the Arrtx Simptap 24-pack acrylic marker set for several months now, and I’ve been pretty happy with it. Recently, though, Arrtx has released larger packs with more variety of color (and also lowered the original price of the first set, which is nice). This article is meant to compare the three Arrtx Simptap acrylic marker sets.

The new sets are a 36-pack and a 48-pack and offer more colors and better value for your money. But let’s do a full comparison of the three Arrtx Simptap acrylic marker sets to see how they stack up against each other. But first, since I like “get to the point” articles, I’ve summarized the main points in the table below:

Note – These are really the biggest differences when comparing the Simptap acrylic marker sets. The markers are the same quality. You’re just getting more colors and better value in the larger packs

Color Range

Below is a comparison of each set based on color. Note that the larger packs contain all the colors of each smaller pack. You’re just gaining more options with each size up.

Price Comparison & Value

As with most products that offer different multi-pack sizes, you’ll be getting a slightly better value by purchasing the larger Arrtx Simptap acrylic marker set.

  • 24pk Set: $23.99 (about $1.00 per marker)
  • 36pk Set: $34.99 (about $0.97 per marker)
  • 48pk Set: $44.99 (about $0.94 per marker)

As expected, the 48-pack offers the best value per marker, which makes it a great choice for anyone who wants the extra colors included. However, the difference is slight enough that if you really don’t think you need the additional colors, you’re not spending that much more per marker in the 24 or 36-pack sets.

Packaging & Caps

All three sets come in a box with an easy-to-open lid flap that can be kept closed by an elastic band adhered to the box. The 24-pack is notably less sturdy than the larger sizes and uses a thin cardstock material. It works for its purposes, but I can already see wear and tear on the box, which I’ve had for a few months now.

The boxes for the 36-pack and 48-pack are both built with a thicker and more durable material. This makes sense, though, since there’s a notable increase in weight with the additional markers in these packs. The material used for the 24-pack would almost certainly not survive if it was used for the 48-pack.

The 36-pack and 48-pack also include caps on the valves, which isn’t seen on the markers in the 24-pack. This, however, could be an overall change on the product since I first received the 24-pack several months ago. I imagine the caps are supposed to help keep the valves from being pressed during transit because I definitely didn’t want to keep them on. They’re mildly annoying to keep track of and fall off consistently when pulling out a marker from the pack. This causes them to fall into the box, and fishing them out is a hassle.

Which Pack is Right for You?

Since the only major difference in these packs is the price and number of colors you receive, it’s entirely based on your preference. But here’s my recommendation:

  • 24pk Set: This is the best option for beginners, casual artists, or those who don’t think they’ll need a wide range of colors. It’s also a good option for anyone looking to test acrylic markers for the first time without a big financial commitment.
  • 36pk Set: This is a great middle option that offers more color flexibility for hobbyists or anyone wanting more shades to work with. This set strikes a good balance between price and variety.
  • 48-pk Set: This set is ideal for more serious artists or anyone who wants the maximum color range and the best value for their money. The cost per marker is the lowest (albeit not an immense difference), and you won’t miss out on any colors from the smaller packs.

Conclusion

All three of the Arrtx Simptap Acrylic Marker sets will get you some high-quality acrylic markers, but the value and color range increase as you go up in pack size. The 24-pack is great for beginners or those who want to try out these new top-valve acrylic markers, while the 36-pack and 48-pack offer more variety and better overall value.
