Art is a great way to express oneself. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just starting to explore your creative side, if you’re like me, you love trying out unique materials to enhance your artwork.
Enter the acrylic pen
Acrylic Pens (or markers, they’re basically the same thing) offer a fun and easy way to create fun new art pieces without some of the hassles of using straight acrylic paint. In this review, we’ll be taking a look at DecoColor Acrylic Markers, along with some popular alternatives.
If you want a VERY summarized version, here’s a table comparing it with alternatives for a quick look:
Acrylic Pen Comparison Table | |||||

DecoColor | Current Price | ~$7/each | Yes | Broad | Medium |
ARTISTRO 12-pack | Current Price | ~$15 | No | Medium | High |

NAWOD 35-Pack | Current Price | ~$28 | Yes | Med & Fine | Medium |
As someone who never tried acrylic markers before, I was intrigued when I received a set as a gift for Christmas many years back. I wanted to share my experience with you and help you determine whether this set is worth adding to your art supplies. So, let’s take a closer look at the pros and cons of the DecoColor Acrylic Markers and find out what makes it so unique.
DecoColor Acrylic Marker Pros and Cons
The DecoColor Acrylic Marker has its pros and cons, so let’s take a closer look:
Pros of the Deco Acrylic Paint Marker
- Full and consistent color with flawless blending
- The DecoColor Acrylic Marker Set offers vibrant and bright colors that blend seamlessly with each other to create a flawless finish.
- Durable and doesn’t fade in various environments and weather conditions
- The marker’s high-quality ink ensures that it won’t fade or deteriorate over time, even when exposed to harsh weather conditions or sunlight.
- Dries quickly, preventing smudging
- The quick-drying ink helps prevent smudging and allows for easy layering without fear of smudging or smearing.
- Versatile for a range of uses, including lettering and mixed media artwork
- The DecoColor Acrylic Marker Set is versatile and can be used for a variety of art projects, including lettering, mixed media, and more.
Cons of the Deco Acrylic Paint Marker
- Very expensive compared to alternatives
- The DecoColor Acrylic Marker Set is significantly more expensive than your alternative acrylic pen sets. And many of them are only sold individually
- Inconsistent ink spread (potentially due to defective models)
- While using my set, I experienced some inconsistent ink flow and uneven spreading, but it could be due to a defective model since I only experienced it with one of the colors.
- Ink runs out quickly, not designed for prolonged heavy coloring
- The ink in the markers runs out quickly, which was a bummer since I only had a few. This, paired with how expensive it already is was quite disheartening
- Paint may not be opaque enough for some users’ preferences
- It has a decent level of opacity, but not as much as I would have anticipated with it being acrylic. Other acrylic pens boast higher opacity levels.
Should You Buy DecoColor Acrylic Markers?
They’re good markers, but my biggest hangup is how expensive they are. There’s some good acrylic pen sets out there for much less money and you don’t need to buy individual acrylic pens.
Unless they’re on some kind of awesome sale where you get a bunch for a good price, I wouldn’t buy them. But that’s largely because I’m a penny-pincher. I’d recommend some of the other acrylic pens I added to the table at the top of the page. They work great and they’re much more affordable.
But, if you’re stupid-rich and have money burning a hole in your pocket then they’re still a great option.
Acrylic Paint Pen Alternatives
I won’t go into crazy detail on any of these, as this article is mostly intended to review the DecoColor Paint Marker, but here’s a list of some good alternatives with much better prices:
Acrylic Pen / Marker | Product Link | Price | Blendable | Tip | Opacity |
ARTISTRO 12-pack | Current Price | ~$15 | No | Medium | High |
ArtShip 35-Pack | Current Price | ~$30 | Yes (ish) | Med & Fine | High |
NAWOD 35-Pack | Current Price | ~$28 | Yes | Med & Fine | Medium |
Thanks so much for this! I was considering purchasing some DecoColor markers but was wondering if they were really worth the hype. Great breakdown!!
