Best L-shaped art desks | Drafting table featured blog image

To me, there’s nothing better than a quality L-shaped art desk with plenty of space for my art supplies, monitors, and PC. Picking one, however, can be maddening.

I couldn’t even find a good article on Google recommending some of the top corner art desks to help me (The AUDACITY), so I had to do my own research. And once I did, I thought, “hey, why don’t I write that article for artists that might already know they want an L-shaped desk?” So, here we are!

Aight, let’s cut the introductions and get straight to it. Here are the best L-shaped desks for artists, in my opinion:

The Best L-Shaped Art Desks

Not enough info on the L-shaped art desks in the summary table? Totally understandable. Let’s dig a little deeper into things like dimensions, building materials, user reviews, and how many kids can jump on it simultaneously before it breaks… Ok, maybe not that last one.

1 – SEDETA L-Shaped Drafting Desk with Hutch

This corner art desk is my top pick, though I do wish there was just a bit more storage. But since storage is something that can be supplemented in other ways, this one made the top of my list.

  • Price
    • $225.99
  • User Reviews
    • 4.5-star average with 400+ ratings
  • Building Materials
    • Alloy steel base
    • Laminated particleboard desktop
  • Weight
    • 98 Pounds

There’s a LOT of dimensions to cover, and explaining them with just text would be making things unnecessarily complicated, so here’s an image with all the dimensions laid out:

The biggest reason this made the top of the list for me is due to the large drafting table, since I primarily focus on traditional art and it’d be very beneficial for me. But even if you’re a digital artist, you might have a large drawing tablet that could fit nicely on here.

Storage is fairly minimal, as mentioned above, but the desk has a solid 4.5-star rating with over 400 reviews. The desk is made with a base of alloy steel and the desktop is laminated particle board that comes in black, white, or rustic brown.

Reviews agree that this is much sturdier than they would have expected, given the price. So, I’d say at least two kids could jump on this before it breaks (please don’t test that).

2 – Tangkula Corner Drafting Desk

Coming in at number two is the Tangkula L-shaped drafting desk. This one has slightly more storage, but the drafting table is smaller. For that reason, it was knocked down to #2.

  • Price
    • $149.99
  • User Reviews
    • 4.3-star average with 390+ ratings
  • Building Materials
    • Alloy steel base
    • Engineered wood desktop
  • Weight
    • 84 Pounds

As with the first desk, I’ll just post a diagram with all the measurements laid out.

The tiltable drafting table dimensions aren’t shown here, but it’s 23×16, which is notably smaller than the desk that made the top of my list.

This corner art desk is still a solid option, and I love the extra space underneath for storage, which can still be supplemented if you choose to do so. The user reviews are slightly lower on this one due to some customers experiencing minor alignment issues.

This desk has even more reviews than my top pick commenting on durability, which is encouraging to see. So, probably 3 kids could jump on this before it breaks (seriously, please don’t test this).

You can read more about the Tangkula brand on their company’s about page.

3 – SEDETA L-Shaped Art Desk With Lift Top

I’m honestly kind of sad to put this in third place, because it’s an awesome desk. It’s mostly just preference, since I want a desk with a drafting table. However, while it’s an issue for me personally, that’s the only gripe I have about this desk.

  • Price
    • $179.99
  • User Reviews
    • 4.5-star average with 114+ ratings
  • Building Materials
    • Alloy steel base
    • Powder-coated MDF
  • Weight
    • 70 Pounds

The storage! Oh, the storage! I could store a good chunk of my art supplies right on my desk if I had this. But alas, the lack of a drafting table. To make up for it, though, this desk has the option to work standing, and can be installed as a long desk rather than a corner art desk if you’d prefer.

For anyone that doesn’t need a drafting table, this would be my top pick. The space and versatility are great. You do have a little less depth on this one, with about 20” rather than the 24” or 22” options above, but 20” is fine in my case.

Why I Prefer an L-Shaped Art Desk

Why? WHY? I’ll tell you why and break it down into a list because we all know you’re just skimming this article and not actually reading the whole thing. Who has time to read entire articles on the internet about L-shaped art desks? Not me!

  1. More Desktop Space Within Reach
    • If you had 100” of desk space stretched straight across, you’d need to get up to grab any art supplies on the far ends of the desk. With a corner art desk, everything stays within reach.
  2. Perfect for Small Offices or Studios
    • Some might disagree with this one, but I think L-shaped desks make excellent use of space. Rooms are squares, and when you have a desk that fits perfectly into a corner, you’re utilizing that space efficiently
  3. Perfect for Digital Artists and Influencers
    • Many digital artists and influencers rely on their computers to make their artwork. This means in addition to any traditional art supplies, you also have a drawing tablet, monitors, a desktop computer, and a mess of cords to deal with. All of that can eat up precious real estate on your desk, which makes L-desks a perfect solution for artists.

I’m sure I could list other reasons, but those are by far the biggest ones. If you’re not a fan of the ones I listed here, you can view more L-shaped Art Desk options on Amazon. I always recommend looking at user reviews. As a rule of thumb, I personally don’t buy anything less than 4 stars.
